The Talking Stick is a conversation management tool that ensures that participants are able to speak without interruption.
How it works
When you start the Talking Stick activity, everyone's mic will be muted. When a participant "takes" the Talking Stick from the middle of the screen by clicking on it, they will automatically become unmuted. Only one person can hold the Talking Stick at once. In order for another participant to take the Talking Stick, they must wait for the participant with the Talking Stick to click to put it back in the middle of the screen. When a participant puts the Talking Stick back in the middle of the screen, they will automatically be muted again.
Starting the Talking Stick activity
To start the Talking Stick activity, click the "Talking Stick" icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Then, click the "Start" button that appears in the menu.
The Talking Stick can be used at the same time as any of our other features and integrated tools, such as Move Around.
Stopping the Talking Stick activity
To stop the Talking Stick activity, click the "Stop" icon in the top right-hand corner of the Talking Stick. Alternatively, you can click the "Stop" button on the Talking Stick menu (if you have closed this menu, you can open it again by clicking on the Talking Stick button in the menu bar at the bottom of your screen).
